December 4th, 2021 - Beginner to Novice Pistol

*This course was originally scheduled for November 20th and has been moved to December 4th. If you registered for the November 20th course, you are good to go on this training date.

 Learn how to fight with your pistol. Newer shooters have an advantage because they are working from a clean slate and don't have to re-learn contemporary gun fighting skills. This is not the NRA way, or the competition shooter way. This course sets the foundation for true gun-fighting skills derived from the US Special Operations community.


Learning Objectives:

  • Gun safety – Clearing procedures and safety procedures  Sweeping/ Flagging, and an actual understanding of the four fundamental safety rules.
  • Shooter Stance and balance. Light and ready to fight.
  • Grip –  Grip is under valued by many. A strong grip is important for accuracy and combatives techniques taught in follow on courses.
  • Sight Picture –  shooting with both eyes open is essential for situational awareness.
  • Trigger control – Referred to trigger press.
  • Malfunction Procedures – all malfunctions in most semi-automatic handguns can be cleared in 3-4 seconds by following the prescribed malfunction procedures taught in this course. Simple, easy and effective.
  • Accuracy - techniques for getting rounds on target during high stress situations.
  • Expedited Magazine Changes -



COST: $75 to register (non-refundable) + $100 cash the day of the training event.

Location: Oklahoma City Gun Club. Enter off of Hiawassi road and turn left of the Cowboy Action town area and follow the road. We'll be on one of the two 50x50 yard ranges. 

Training Date: Saturday, November 20th, 2021.

Start Time: 12:00PM

Course Duration - 3.5 hours

Dead line for sign-ups: 11:59PM Wednesday, November 18th.

Prerequisites: This is a new shooter course. Participants must be at least 21 years of age.

Instructions: Shooters should arrive with their handgun in a case. Upon arrival at the range do not remove  pistols or handguns from the cases until instructed to do so.




  • 250 rounds of ammunition
  • Handgun

  • Two magazines (aka: clips) 
  • Magazine pouch 
  • Hearing protection
  • Eye protection
  • Weather appropriate clothing 
  • Water - bring more than you think you'll need.
  • Ball cap (recommended)
  • Case or backpack for handgun and ammunition.
