3-Second Head Shot Standards

Weapon: Pistol

Starting Position: start from the Ready position. If you get all your hits try it from the holster. If you get all your hits and the PAR time try it from concealed.

PAR time: 3 seconds. Add .5 seconds for concealed carry.

Range: 5 yds

Targets are placed at least two feet apart shoulder to shoulder at a range of five yards. PAR time is set to three seconds for each string. There are 3 strings of fire, one round on each target for each string of fire. Shot placement objective, penetrate the cerebellum of the brain. There is a Threat Elimination Zone (TEZ) faintly depicted over the head of each target character.

  Training objective: The shooter is to focus upon human anatomy, the TEZ is not intended to be seen from the 5 yd line.

 

            1. From left to right, fire one round (only one) into the head of each target character.

            2. From right to left, fire one round (only one) into the head of each target character.

            3. Starting with the center target fire one round into the head and finish with the two outside targets in any order.

 Scoring:


  •      Shots fired after the PAR time count as misses.

  •      Rounds within the Threat Elimination Zone (TEZ) count for 3 points.  

  •      Rounds on the head or neck count as 2 points. They must be completely contained within the head or neck, not breaking the line. Rounds impacting anywhere else do not count.

  •       A total of 9 rounds fired with a maximum of 3 points each for a total of 27 points possible. 21 points required for a passing score.
